Condenser Coils

Condenser Coils

Heatcraft® Condenser coils can be applied for various duty requirements, including de-superheating, reheating, and traditional condensing applications.

Whether the condenser coil is in an HVAC or refrigeration application, its function is the same. One of the four primary components in a vapor-compression refrigeration system, the condensing coil is usually located outside of the conditioned space with the compressor and condenser fan.  The evaporator and thermostatic expansion valve or capillary tube are usually located within the conditioned space.

Each of these components do their part in a continuous loop to convert refrigerant from a gas to liquid (condenser) and liquid to a gas (evaporator) and move heat from the conditioned space to un-conditioned or outdoor space.

Condenser – This coil takes the superheated vapor from the compressor and cools that vapor down to saturation. It then completely condenses all of the vapor into liquid and continues to sub-cool the resulting liquid to a desired temperature below saturation.

Reheat – This is a hot gas reheat coil which takes the superheated vapor from the compressor and cools the vapor down to saturation. It then continues to condense a requested percentage of that vapor to a liquid.

Desuperheater – This coil takes the superheated vapor from the compressor and cools that vapor down to a requested temperature above saturation.
